As if I haven’t done enough big adulting things this month, here’s my last bit of big news! THIS CHICK GOT A NEW JOB as a Marketing Coordinator for a law firm! Now, I can’t announce exactly where I’ll be working for another week (I do have a LinkedIn page for anyone interested in creeping on me), but today was my last day with my old employer, and it was really bitter sweet. Bitter because am leaving some really amazing people that I have seriously enjoyed knowing and working with (not that this is goodbye, but more a see you later alligator), and sweet becauseĀ this new opportunity is REALLY exciting and is downtown! You heard that right – DOWNTOWN!! And it’s off the train line I live by, so my commute is SO much easier, and I’ll have a ton more downtown recommendations to post about! Basically, I’m totally psyched, I can’t wait for my first day next week (because you know, I needed some time to move and unpack), and just AAHHHHH!!! So many things – all the things! I’m also 100% aware that I’ve done three of the most stressful things you can do during your lifetime in the span of a month, but I promise my stress is at an all-time low and my excitement and happiness are at an all-time high, so no keeling over for me, promise!
But that’s not necessarily why you’re here is it? No, I bet it really has something to do with the gorgeous bowl of food that I featured right? Oh yeah, I’m right there with you! In fact, let me tell you about this really lovely little place in Cincinnati called Senate. Located in a cute little neighborhood called “Over-The-Rhine,” this upscale and innovative street food joint has really made a home for itself! It’s one of my favorite places to go, not as much for the hot dogs that they are most known for, but for their Mussels Charmoula! Now, I know what you’re thinking – mussels in Cincinnati? How good can they really be? Honestly, it’s not so much the mussels that are the star of the dish, but the sauce they’re cooked in is what brings it all together, but isn’t that the case for most mussel dishes? If you don’t have a good sauce, it’s all moot because, don’t get me wrong, mussels are definitely tasty, but I’m pretty sure it’s not as enjoyable eating half a pound of them when they’ve been sitting in a sub-par sauce…
Not the case with this sauce: rich, velvety, tangy, and incredibly herbaceous, this sauce delivers on every one of my favorite aspects of a sauce, AND NOW I can make it at home because I bought their cookbook! I’ll attempt to make one or two of their fancy hotdogs, but given that the husband is pretty much a dog purist in that the only hot dog he really likes is a traditional Chicago Hot Dog, but I do plan to try their other big-ticket items (short ribs, scallops, poutine!) and cocktails! Delicious! Plus their sauces are out of this world, so I highly recommend picking up a copy of this delicious, out-of-the-box read and give the mussels a try!
